Hope for Lightning Striking Twice

I have a friend who is pregnant with her very first baby; a little boy.

Earlier this week she was airlifted to a nearby hospital because her body began the process of  labor.  She is only 24 weeks along.  Doctors performed a surgical procedure to hopefully keep the baby in place until his due date, but the best they can give her now is hope.

28 weeks is the earliest a baby can be born with any prospect of viability and obviously, anything past that is a blessed bonus.

If anyone deserves the blessing of motherhood, it’s my friend.  She is one of the sweetest and purely genuine people I know.  When you hear her tell stories about her childhood and family life it’s hard to believe she’s the person that she is today.  She’s that flower that grows through the crack in the sidewalk – she’s due this reward.

Having dodged a bullet of our own so recently with Larissa, I can feel her pain and worry so acutely.  I wish there was something I could do to take it all away, but all  I can do is the same thing that we did for our own girl, and that’s pray.

If you could, please send a positive thought for my friend and her son.  Thanks to Larissa I believe that miracles are possible and there’s always room in the world for one more.
