Scrapbook Paper Thanksgiving Turkey

If you are a scrapbooker, you probably already have everything you need to make this cute Thanksgiving turkey craft. If you are not, you can pick up a sheet of pretty patterned paper at your favorite craft store for under a dollar. This fun kids craft requires a few minutes of prep on your part, but the results are so cute, it’s worth it.

You will need:

  • Brown construction paper
  • Patterned scrapbook paper in Fall colors
  • Scissors
  • Clothespins
  • Markers
  • Glue

Cut out a bowling pin shape from the brown construction paper approximately 8 inches tall and 3 inches wide. Cut some feathers out of your patterned scrapbook paper. I used a few different patterns, but the turkey will look just as good with one design too. Each turkey you plan to make will use 6 feathers.

Have your kids apply glue to one end of the feather on the patterned side.

They will attach that feather to the turkey’s body. They can put 3 feathers on each side. One of my daughters only wanted 5 feathers on her turkey and that worked out well too.

I cut out a triangle from the leftover scrapbook paper and the kids glued it on to the turkey’s face as a nose. Next, they used markers so they could draw eyes and a mouth on their turkey.

We used some clothespins for the feet. Kids can color the clothespins using markers if they wish.

Clip the feet onto the bottom of the turkey. When we tried to make the turkey stand he fell right over so we glued a Popsicle stick to the back of the turkey. This really helped in keeping him upright.

Turkeys on parade!

I think these would make really fun placeholders at a kids’ Thanksgiving table. Maybe you can even have the kids make them before the meal to keep them busy while you are preparing the feast.
