Lol! I just woke up from a nap with DS1, so my contacts are still a little fuzzy(not to mention my brain is obviously still waking up), and I totally thought you said "keeping the *flour* dry"(you know, like all-purpose flour, that you bake with)...I was like, what does she mean?! Sorry...back to you question...

My own water never broke til DS was crowning, but I have had a little bit of experience from my Doula clients. In a hospital, and we just fallowed her around with towels while she was walking/moving and placed towels on top of the birth ball etc.. . With my sister's HB, any time she was standing still (ie; swaying with her hubby through a contraction) we would put a chux pad under her, as well as on top of the birth ball and anything else she sat on.
