Do you do any little things around the house to promote mathematical thinking? When he was younger we did a lot of counting and such. But I feel like I am not doing anything now. We have a calendar up and he can read that, but I would love to incorporate little addition or subtraction things naturally into our day. What do you do?

Re: Math
My inlaws bought Kayley math puzzle games. She doesn't use them that much, but it helps when she does use them.

Re: Math
I try to incorporate learning into alot of things. When they were younger I would always ask them what color something was to teach them. Anytime I give them snacks i.e. grapes, crackers, even candy, I always ask, how many? Now that I have a kindergartener, I have started subtracting. If I have 5 grapes and I give you two of them how many do I have left? If I have 10 grapes and I divide them evenly between you and your brother, how many would you each have?

If we are at the store, I always ask them, what number register are we at? How many people are in front of us? when we move up in line, ask one person is done, how many are left? just little every day things help so much!

Re: Math
We do similar things as Lesha. Tenli is very advanced in math now so when she asks how many more days until something, we have her figure it out on her own. We are starting to count stuff with Chase now too.
