Bullying? Or am I over-reacting?
We go to the YMCA a couple times a week. They have a child watch there, so I can leave the kids there while I go work out. After I leave DD, I always spy through the window for a couple minutes to make sure she is okay (she can't see me do this).
Today, I was doing my usual spy, when I saw DD trying to go to one part of the room to get a toy. There was a bigger kid there, I guess he was 4 years old or so, he wouldn't let her go by him. She would go one way, he would stand in front of her, she would try the other way and he would stop her from getting past him. I went over and knocked on the window and told him to stop. He obviously had no idea I was watching, and he looked ashamed because he got caught.
Is this nuts that I have to protect my children from bullying already????
Is this bullying?
Am I just over-reacting?

Sounds like kids being kids to me. I think if he was a true bully he wouldn't have looked ashamed when you caught him. He probably would have been obstinate. The workers possibly should have been watching the kids more closely and stopped it. That said, you can't catch everything....Reagan was bit several times in daycare a few months back (she goes to a good one)....these things happen. I chalk it up to normal development. Try not to sweat it. At this age as soon as the kid stopped I'm sure you're daughter moved on. :)

I agree. I don't really think he was bullying per say. Kids can be bullies at that age, but he may just have been playing a game. I do think the childcare worker should have intervened though because kids do these sort of things and they need someone to show them how they should and shouldn't act.

It wasn't nice of him. And probably minor bullying, but nothing major. But he should be taught that isn't a nice way to behave.

I don't think you're over reacting but he probably wasn't bullying either. I would've talked to the caregivers too.
