Time away from baby??
How many ladies have had nights away from their little ones yet? We have never had a night away from Lydia and we are about to leave her for a weekend. We are going to a friend's wedding in Florida. It will only be 2 nights, 3 days but I get a knot in my stomach every time I think about it. I KNOW she will be fine but, I can't help feeling anxious about it.:( Can you tell I'm a first time mom, LOL?

Re: Time away from baby??
I've had many nights away from Cody, but that is due to DH and I separating and exchanging the kids back and forth. But as for anyone else watching him - he spent one or two nights with my mom about a year or so ago. Other than that, we haven't gone on any trips by ourselves at all. We really don't have anyone who can keep the kids overnight, or for a few nights. My mom and I don't really get along very well and if she's with my kids alone for more than an hour she "can't handle it." DH's mom LIVES at the casino and nothing short of a death in the family will get in the way of that. She goes EVERY Thursday and Saturday night. Heck, she even went during Hurricane Sandy! DH and I want to get away so bad....never even had a honeymoon.

I say go and have fun and Lydia will be fine. I know you can't help but worry, but sounds like you are really looking forward to this:)

Re: Time away from baby??
I have never left him overnight (actually not at all) and don't plan to for a long time.

But I have reasons. We left my oldest DD with my parents when she was 9 months old and went on vacation for 3-4 days. She was 100% fine while we were gone, but when we got back, we expected her to be excited to see us, but it was the complete opposite. She wanted nothing to do with us for nearly a week. It was awful. I think in her baby-mind she felt we abandoned her and didn't know when or even if we will be back. It really left an impact on me & I can't do that to another child. But that's just me, not saying every baby will act this way.

So basically when I can say to him, "We will be gone for 2 days and then we will pick you up." and he understands that completely, that is the only time I'll consider leaving him. But DH and I both agree that vacations without the kids are not our thing!!!

No nights away for us yet either. My mother in law always used to ask when he didnt sleep so that we could. . .But honestly especially back then I would have gotten less sleep with him not home. Now....we are thinking more about it. But it will be a while.
I KNOW he would be fine, as I know yours will be. . .Its soooo normal to worry!!

We haven't left madison over night. I have left her over night, he has left her over night, but one of us has always been there with her. I have left her overnight when I pull 24 hour duty for the army but anything other than that I couldn't handle emotionally. You can always go back home if it's too much for you :) Or call her on the phone! SKype?

We have never left Dahlia overnight and don't plan on it any time soon. I am still nursing and feel a need to be near her. Vacas without kids are not for us either, we enjoy having our children with us. The first time we left Dallas overnight was during my false labor with Dahlia and again the night Dahlia was born. She was 18 months old at the time, and my aunt and uncle watched her and kept her up on NYE, it was ridiculous (they have 3 boys they let her stay up with). But we didn't have anyone else and it was necessary. If we have a choice though we will not leave them.

We haven't left Katelyn overnight yet either. If we needed to for some reason my mom could watch her no problem but we haven't needed to yet. I feel like I would miss her too much to enjoy any kind of vacation!

Re: Time away from baby??
We did a partial night on our anniversary and only picked them up because Liana (who is 3) didn't have a place to sleep and was still up watching tv at 11pm! Had they had the room and beds we would have left them the rest of the night. I feel that once the kiddos are old enough to be fed regular food so that milk and bottles are not a stress for those watching them and don't get up at night (other than to pee) I think they are ready for an overnight. But from reading the other responses I know that I am not the norm. We just haven't felt the need to go somewhere overnight alone.

Re: Time away from baby??
We prefer to do vacations as a family as well, but this is an evening wedding so it is not a very ideal situation for a toddler who is in bed by 7:30pm. We are still playing it by ear though. Hoping someone in my family can get the time off and join us do they can stay with her while we attend the wedding. But, I also know DH and I could use the time together as well. We very seldomly have a sitter, so we have been out together alone on a date probably 2 times since Lydia was born. My mom will be the person keeping Lydia while we are gone, if we go, so I know she will 100% taken care of. It's just hard for Me to actually leave her....Decisions....

I haven't had any nights away from Gio yet, and don't plan to for some time. DH, Gio and I just got back from a trip with DH's job and we took Gio. He was only 1 of 3 kids there (out of about 120 people) but there was no way i was going without him! ;)

We have not been away from Drake over night, and honestly, I am not ready too. I cannot imagine leaving him with someone else. No way!

Re: Time away from baby??
AWWW Julia that made me so sad to read :( Poor N. She was like Mommy you're taking too long. LOL

J hasn't had a babysitter yet. We bring our kids along wherever we go. We have our weekly "date nights" at restaurants on the beach so the kids can play with other kids in the sand & water while we eat & drink and enjoy ourselves. That's all I need. We are however throwing this massive reunion pool party in June and there will be a lot of drinking and mayhem soooo I'm going to leave the kiddos with my Dad, Step-Mom, and younger sisters. Everyone is SO excited!! My 4yr old keeps asking me 100x "it is almost time for our sleepover?!" hahaha. I guess he's ready!

Re: Time away from baby??
We've had time away :)

Mum loves to babysit Eve, and she is the only one who can have her overnight (others work more).

Oh, it has never been for more than one night at a time though.

Re: Time away from baby??
We left Nathan overnight with my parents last May when I was a bridesmaid in my best friends wedding. It wasn't easy but she meant a lot to me and it went fine :)

Re: Time away from baby??
a few nights. We went on a cruise in January so Joe stayed with Grandma for a week. We've had some date nights that the kids have been with either friends or Grandmas.
