Name meanings
How did you all arrive on the name for your LO? Any family names or special meanings?

DD's name comes from the Longfellow poem "The Children's Hour" Here is a recitation:

Longfellow Reads Longfellow: The Children's Hour - YouTube

It is about Longfellow's eternal love for his children. In the full version of the poem he mentions "the Bishop of Bingen in his mouse tower on the Rhine". Bingen is not far from where we live and we thought it fitting that an American poet mentioned the area where we live in his poem about the children he loved. Also, Longfellow is probably my favorite poet and this is one of my favorite poems.

Her middle name is after a relative on my side.

Re: Name meanings
Robby is a Junior, so he's named after his dad. But his dad liked it because it's a combo of HIS dad and grandfather's names. I like it because DH's name happens to also be the name of my paternal grandfather (with whom Robby also shares a bday). Special!

Re: Name meanings
Claire has no special meaning. Just a name that Donny and I both liked. Ellene is a family name, well Ellen, actually. Ellen is my paternal grandmother's name and my maternal grandmother's middle name. My middle name is Ellen too so we wanted to pass it down. Claire Ellen sounded way to plain/old lady. I wanted her middle name to be Ellena but Donny wanted Ellene and I eventually gave in.

Re: Name meanings
Alice Marie happens to be the name of aunts on both our sides, but we didn't know that. We just wanted something normal to name her. Something where she could walk into the DMV, say her name is Alice Marie, and they can automatically fill it out. I go in like this: "My name is A-R-W-E-N D-A-N...."

With Winter Rose, we were just throwing around girl names we liked, and brought up "Winter," our boy name. Thought it was too bad we may never use it. One of us said Winter Rose and both of us were like:

Re: Name meanings
DH and I took awhile to figure out what we should call DD. He finally came home with a name and we worked around it. We started out with Ella Mae then went to Ellie Mae (which we kept in our minds until 8 months along) then my grandma called and gave me a pity party about how her grandchildren/great grandchildren weren't named after her. so we ended up with

Ellie Joanne :D

Re: Name meanings
I love you so much for posting that Arwen, haha!

Our LO is Jane Grace. We just like the name Grace really, and I'm a Jane Austen fan. No real special meaning.

Re: Name meanings
I like different names. I found Rhydian while searching through the 'back door' of baby names. It is welsh (SO is welsh) it means 'dweller by the river crossing' (I LOVE water and the Feb Zodiak sign is Aquarius [water]) It's also the name of a Welsh Saint.

His middle name is Croix (SO found the name and could NOT let it die, it was being considered for a first name but I don't care for one syllable first names) and his second middle name is Charles (family name on SO's side Rhydian is generation 4 to have Charles as middle name)

Re: Name meanings
We just liked Aubree. It's funny. It means "elfin king (well I guess maybe queen for a girl)" and people constantly tell me she looks like a little elf, or a pixie. Grace is for Amazing Grace. She came to us during a really rough time and that's my favorite hymn. Donice is my mom's name. :)

Re: Name meanings
Nothing special, DH just wanted Aubri but i didnt want her to be one of 10 Aubri's in her class so i just added an A to the end. She has both of our middle names: Nichole and Lee but i just write Aubriya Nichole.

Re: Name meanings
Ryne is the name of dhs favorite baseball player who is now in the baseball hall of fame. We liked how unique it is but it's also not super strange. It's amazing how many people think we are saying Ryan. Dh and I joke that we should have just named him that because we feel rude when correcting people

His middle name we chose because its dhs middle name. And I liked the name, we almost used it as his first name. Dh wanted his middle name to be dhs first name but we agreed it was more original the other way

Re: Name meanings
Eliana means God has answered and we both really liked it. Her middle names are her grandmothers' middle names on my side she is the 4th or 5th generation with the name.

Re: Name meanings
We're not Irish, but my name (Kelly) means "warrior" in Irish, and Evan's name means "young warrior." So I liked that we share a name meaning. (He also shares Daddy's initials this way.)
