Ultrasound on Blake
We had our second to final ultrasound on Blake this morning! He is doing great-we have biophysical profiles done on him once a week to monitor the umbilical cord and his growth. Today at almost 35 weeks he estimated weighing 6lbs 12oz! Anyone else have larger than average ultrasound weight estimates this early on? I'm glad he's big since we will be delivering in two weeks (hopefully), but just not sure how common this is.

So lucky to have a peak at him!! No idea what mine weighs. Glad he is doing so well.

Re: Ultrasound on Blake
Yay! I'm so happy to hear he's doing great in there! The weight guesses can be totally off on the ultrasounds, so I wouldn't put too much stock in it. That being said, they said my first was 9 lbs 10 oz at 40 weeks and he weighed in at 9 lbs 10 oz, so they were right on with us. But I have heard more times than not that the guesses are just that. Thanks for updating us on how he's doing! :)

Re: Ultrasound on Blake
Glad he's doing well! I have no idea what the size is of mine since we haven't had an US since 20 weeks. I know they can be pretty off at times though.

Re: Ultrasound on Blake
Good to hear he's doing well!

My LO has been measuring 2 weeks ahead since my 25 week ultrasound. Last week (at 37 weeks) she was estimated at 8lbs 2oz, but there is a margin for error in ultrasound estimates.

Re: Ultrasound on Blake
My first was 8lbs 8oz at 40 weeks, and was measuring "big" (70-85th percentile on most u/s) in the 3rd trimester. She was a bit big, but not huge and not as big as they were expecting.

With my 3rd they told me at 35 weeks she was already 7lbs5oz and would be huge. She was born at 37 weeks and only weighed 6lbs14oz so they were pretty far off on that one.

I'm glad they're keeping a close eye on him but at this point, they are just making estimates on the size and apparently consider 1-2lbs in either direction an "acceptable range of error" (duh, I mean, most babies ARE between 6 and 10lbs at term, may as well just tell us all they look to be about 8lbs!)
