Tandem nursing
Do we have any tandem nursers in here?

Would you consider tandem nursing this baby and your next, if you had another baby in the next few years?

Re: Tandem nursing
I was still nursing my older daughter when we were ttc and I remember my midwife telling me that I could tandem nurse if I wanted to and I told her that sounded terrible to me. I don't really love nursing even though I am pretty dedicated to it and my goal is to nurse each of my kids for 2+ years.

If we had a baby before the other one was 2 years I would try to give it a go, but for now I am grateful that I am only nursing 1. :)

Re: Tandem nursing
What is it? I've seen people talk about it but never looked it up.

Nursing both your infant and older child. Sometimes at the same time, sometimes separate. But you are breastfeeding more than one child.

Re: Tandem nursing
Ok that's what I figured I just didn't know if anything else was invoked or anything. I would but I want him to be my only baby for a little bit.

Grace still asks to nurse occasionally, even though she really weaned over a year ago. I think she does it now for comfortand because she sees Anna nursing. If mine were closer together, I would have tried tandem nursing.

I was going to do that but my daughter self weaned. My goal was always to let her wean.

Re: Tandem nursing
I was afraid that was what I was going to be doing this time since I was still nursing when I got pregnant. However, she pretty much just weaned herself one day back around October. I don't know if the flavor had changed (as I've heard that's pretty common during pregnancy and is often what turns off the nursing baby) or if she was just done. Looking back, I think something must have been off with it because she was getting sick probably once every couple of weeks (vomiting and diarrhea), and it pretty much was not an issue after she stopped nursing.

I'm glad it didn't get to the point where I had to make that decision. I think I would consider it, but it's not really my first preference.
