Sorry about the power, but I am glad you had such a good talk with Dh's is strange when we think how hard it is for us in the age of much harder it would have been then to deal with this.
My mom has told me (I remember thinking it was very funny at the time) - that when she was growing up "pregnant" was considered a bad word & you had to talk aroud "expecting" or "in the family way"...and she said it was NEVER mentioned to anyone outside maybe a mother or husband until you were showing - because of all the infant mortality & mc. It's very sad when I think of it now. I am so glad things seem to be moving in the right direction & by the time we are all mom's, with perhaps grown daughters...if heaven forbid they ever suffer this - maybe it won't be taboo at all - perhaps people will know how to help them & what to do. That is my hope anyway.
