This may or may not help, but I've noticed that the first few times I ovulate after having a baby - it's VERY painful. But then the more cycles I have, the less painful it is. So there's a chance this could improve with a bit of time.

The other thing you could try is this. A few days after you start noticing your fertile you near ovulation, you could start taking a mild pain killer. Just the minimum dose, every 6 hours, for those few days. If there's some pain relief on board before the pain starts, it might not be as bad.
