My earliest memory of worship is listening to stories about Jesus in school assembly - which I always found "got me" and sometimes made me tear up.

What I LEARNED that sticks with me most is to have an open mind. My Dad taught me that.

What sticks in my mind MOST is a song Mum learned at Sunday school and taught me as a very little girl. It went like this, and yes I do remember it by heart:
"The Bible tells us something we're all supposed to know
Tis all about the devil and the way he hates us so
They say that he will come in if you let him in the room
He'll never ever leave you if your heart is filled with gloom
So let the sun shine in, face it with a grin
Smilers never frown, losers never win
So let the sun shine in, face it with a grin
Open up your heart and let the sun shine in."

Now, I do not believe in the devil - though I may have done at the time. I was only about 4. But I do certainly believe that having an open heart and putting positivity out there is a large part of what can make the difference between happiness/fulfilment and sadness/feeling lost. So far as I can see, the other part that makes a difference is chance/fate. But having an open heart, open to help, open to miracles, open to comfort, open to love, can really help through those toughest of times.
