I think this thread could be spun-off into a stay-at-home-dad thread.

With so many people thinking the mother is "more important" to newborns, I'd really like to know what they think of stay-at-home dad's of newborns. Are they getting substandard care becaus the father is the primary caregiver?

I agree with Melissa for the majority of this thread. I would never dream of telling DH he couldn't have extended periods of time with our newborn in the event of our seperation because "mothers are more important" or "I'm the primary caregiver". I think that's a bit much, personally.[/b]
I don't think that they are getting the ideal care, no. But I wouldn't call it "substandard"

I don't think anyone said that fathers should not get extended time with their newborns.
Those who love me know how to reach's been real ladies, peace and love!!
