There are some defects that can be diagnosed via u/s. More often, however, they think there is a problem when there isn't or they miss a problem. I had three u/s with Cameron. One because the OB didn't believe I could possibly know when he was conceived. One for the routine one. And one because the u/s tech mixed up the terms anterior placenta (which I had) and low-lying placenta (which I didn't have). I did not have an u/s when I was pregnant with Ani or Fritz. In the absence of a medical reason I will never have one again.
