Well, some of you may remember me posting on Monday that I thought I was having contractions... so here's the scoop:

Woke up at 1pm and used the bathroom and right afterward I had a contraction. Thought it was gas so I laid back down, but around 15 minutes later I had another and by 2pm I had around 4 of them. I was totally calm thinking that I had plenty of time before I had to go to the hospital. Well, by 3pm they were coming only 3 minutes apart!!! DH and I grabbed a few things and HAULED @SS to the hospital, me cussing my head off with every contraction. We got in there at 4pm and in no time I was having contractions right on top of each other. Luckily the anesthesiologist got there quickly because when they first checked me, I was already 6cm and got the epidural at around 6pm. I really can't say whether the contractions or the epidural hurt worse, but once that needle was in, I felt NOTHING. I was watching the monitor and seeing that I was having REALLY strong contractions, but I couldn't feel a thing. I should send that nice man a box of chocolates.

Around 6:30 they broke my water and started me on some pitocin to speed things up (as if my labor wasn't going fast enough!) and I was fully dialated by 8pm. The nurse had me start pushing with my contractions, but I was having a hard time moving him since I was so completely numb and couldn't tell if I was pushing effectively. After an hour of pushing, I was pretty tired, but I hung in there and at 9:11pm on 9/12 Connor EXPLODED out of me. I literally HOSED the doctor, lmao. But he came out kicking and screaming and was a nice 8 pounds 7 ounces with all his fingers and toes and a head full of black hair. Ah I wish I had somewhere to host pictures at right now, he's SO cute!!!

It's been a very trying couple of days since then though, he's been screaming like I've never seen a baby scream before. Last night it started around midnight and the nurses thought maybe it was just some gas upsetting his tummy. I thought that too since he had a large bowel movement and passed some gas and then quieted right down... But then it started up again. Finally after worrying my butt off and having NO sleep and having my ears literally ringing from his screaming, a very nice nurse gave him a little syringe of glucose water and he instantly stopped crying and went to sleep. Turns out that although he's getting nutrients from my colostrum, his little tummy just feels too empty and he doesn't know what to do about it. I didn't want to introduce artificial nipples yet, but he's still acting the same way with the screaming and the ONLY way we can calm him is to suppliment slightly with the glucose stuff. They said this should stop as soon as my milk comes in and there's enough volume to fill his tummy. I'm just frustrated that none of the other nurses thought to try that and instead let him scream bloody murder for 12 hours straight! Grrr....

Oh yeah, I had an epistiotomy but still got a 2nd degree tear on top of it, and all I can say is YEEEOOWW!!!!!!!! Luckily they've been giving me percocet in the hospital and sent me home with a prescription for tylox which isn't quite as good as the percocet, but at least it takes the edge off.

Anyhoo, I'm EXHAUSTED... I never thought I could survive on so little sleep in my whole life! He just had himself a good meal though, so I'm going to take advantage of my moment of quiet and try to get a nap in. At least now I don't have nurses coming in and waking me up EVERY TIME Connor goes to sleep, heh.

I'm so in love!!!!!!!!!
