Effervescence April 18th, 2009 01:07 AM

Tonight, Daryl and I dropped Jonah off to spend time with his aunt while we went to the Symphony Orchestra with Daryl's parents. Daryl gets free tickets from work, because the orchestra is one of his company's clients (they design and build websites) Anyway, before the concert, we had taken our seats and were just chatting, and we realized that next week, Daryl has four tickets to the concert, his parents already have tickets to that concert. To top it off, I received for my birthday EXCELLENT tickets to see the play "To Kill a Mockingbird" when the broadway production comes through town- next weekend.

So Daryl gave the tickets to the orchestra to his sister and BIL, and now we're out of childcare LOL. We've never been in this situation before; there's always been family to take Jonah when we go out. MIL has friends who know people that babysit, but I am SO nervous to leave him with someone! Should I interview them? goodness, I don't know why I never thought about the need for a babysitter before. My first inclination is just that we won't go out that night, but our seats are seriously so close to the stage that we might get spit on by the actors... I've really been looking forward to this, and the tickets weren't cheap. It would really be disrespectful to my FIL (who gave me the tickets) if we don't go. I don't know why I'm so worried about it. And we have only a week to find someone!

geeze I'm so wishy washy.... maybe it's because I stay up too late

Re: Babysitter
LOL dont know what to tell you. I dont have a sitter, my last night out without kids was boxing day 2004. But seriously if it is someone well known by the fa,ily it should be fine, but yes I would insist on meeting them first and seeing how they interact with the child.

Re: Babysitter
I haven't been in that situation, but I would definitely interview them before hiring them for the night. If they're known to members of the family then I would feel better than just hiring a random stranger.
