What do you think of this name?

This is a French boy name that is a variant of Stephen. It means crown and it is pronounced 'Eh-tee-yin'.

Do you think it is usable for someone who is not French?

Re: Etienne?
I love it, but I am French :p

I still think non-French speakers could use it.

Re: Etienne?
It's nms but I like the sound of it.

Re: Etienne?
I like the sound of it, but the spelling looks overly feminine to me. I don't think I could use it on a boy.

Re: Etienne?
I like it but it makes me think of the shoe/purse brand Etienne Aigner...which I always just assumed was a female designer b/c it sounds more feminine to me.

Re: Etienne?
I immediately assumed it was a girls name, and that would make it challenging for me to use it, as a non-French individual :)

Re: Etienne?
My neighbor's name is Etienne. He's french canadian living in U.S. I like the name, but it's a bit too foreign sounding for my taste.

Re: Etienne?
I like it but it would only work on a French speaking family (which you might be, I don't know)

Re: Etienne?
It's definitely not a girl's name. I like it, but I think you would have pronunciation problems if you don't live in a French-speaking area.

Re: Etienne?
I always assumed it was a feminine name too... I like how it sounds, but think it would be a hard sell if you were living in a non-french speaking area.

Re: Etienne?

Re: Etienne?
I like it and I know someone named Etienne. I don't think it has to be a French family, but it would make more sense.
