WDYT of...

DH likes it a lot (not that we are pregnant right now) but it just reminds me of the 80's and early 90's.

Not my style. It sounds dated to me.

I think Jason is a nice name, I don't think it sounds dated I think of it more as a modern classic like Kyle and Ryan. It's been in the top 100 names for the past 40 years.

Re: WDYT of...
Honestly, it's one of my least favorite names. To me, it doesn't seem like a classic name that's been used for ages (Matthew, David, Ryan, etc) but more of a complete dated name, too overused and just not my taste.

Re: WDYT of...
I love Jason. I love Justin even more. Which is unfortunate since I had a pair of friends in high school named Justin and Jason (they were brothers, 11 months apart).

A note on the "classicness" of Jason vs. Ryan:

Ryan was at the bottom of the top 1000 in 1906, then fell off the chart completely until 1946. it took 30 years for it to reach the top 20 in 1976. (only in 2010 did it drop out of the top 20 and hit number 23). It took six years to move from 140 to 16 in the early 70s.

Jason has been completely all over the place, but the SSA lists it starting in 1880. It fell off for a year in 1899, and came back in 1900. It bounced around in the bottom 600 for 40 years, then steadily inclined it's way to reaching the top 20 by 1970. In 1973 it reached the top 5, and stayed there for 10 years. It fell to number 23 in 1986, and has been in the top 100 since, but is on a steady decline.

To say it's "not as classic as Ryan" is inaccurate. It's been popular a lot longer. However, I think Jason seems dated to US because most of us were born somewhere around the early-mid 80s, which is when Jason hit it's peak. People who were born in the early 70s would have seen Ryan hit it's peak, and may feel the same way about it that we do about Jason.

Re: WDYT of...
Like others have said Jason has a dated feel to me, reminds me of a certain era. I wouldn't use it personally.

Re: WDYT of...
I rather like it but I know too many Jasons. I like it way better than Mason, Jayden, and all of the other 6000 soundalike names.

Re: WDYT of...
I like other names a lot more but DH just says no to everything!
