WDYT of Ryan? I've been reading it recently on girls, but IMO its a boys name, what gender do you prefer it on? How would you spell it? (Ryann/Ryan/Rian/Rhian/Ryanne etc)

Marissa March 16th, 2007 06:54 PM

I prefer it on a boy rather then a girl. I like it but wouldn't use it. With my name it would be to OC.

I like it as a boys name, not as a girls name though. I prefer the traditional spelling.

I love Ryan. Too popular to use, though.

I like the name on both genders, but I wouldn't ever use it. My husband is persistant on using it for our next daughter, but not going to happen. I like Ryan & Ryen spellings.

I like it, and spelled Ryan, for a BOY!

LileighBelle March 17th, 2007 09:44 AM

I like it both boys and girls, for a boy I would spell it Ryan & a girl I would spell it Ryen!!

It's definitely a boy name in my books. We're considering it for a MN if baby's a boy (it's DH's MN).

i love it on a boy

Definitely a boys name IMO.

DH's name is Ryan.
I was going to give it to Grace as a middle name though, although it would have been "Ryanne" (ry - anne)

Bre+Will=Reid March 18th, 2007 08:46 PM

I've always loved Ryan for a girl  Don't care for it as much on a boy. I would only spell it Ryan, no other way.

gee102 March 19th, 2007 05:34 AM

Boy, definately. Ryan

SwedenGirl March 19th, 2007 06:32 AM

I would only use it for a boy and spelled RYAN. I knew 2 girls growing up with the last name of "Ryan"....so if one had a daughter with that name, and she married a man with that as a last name, she would be stuck with "Ryan Ryan" if she took his name! That's some of the trouble with surnames as first names I guess.

MommytoOliviaandCole March 19th, 2007 07:02 AM

I like Ryan for a boy but I would not use it myself.
