Myths of Breastfeeding
Good read. There is other good info on the website, too.

Myths of Breastfeeding

What myths have you been told by well meaning people?

Re: Myths of Breastfeeding
If you're sick you shouldn't breastfeed as the baby could get sick from it. I was told that by several people. I thought it was complete bunk because if the risk came from my face being close to the baby's well...how the heck else am I supposed to care for the baby when changing, bottle feeding, etc? I was happy to find information that says when a mother is sick her body is producing antibodies and that will show up in her milk. The baby will drink the milk and be better protected.

Re: Myths of Breastfeeding
^ True! I've breast fed both of my babies through some nasty viruses (at least one bad stomach virus with each girl), and it is NOT fun or easy to breast feed through something like that, with supply taking a nose dive, and just being so wiped out, but it is so important to keep going so that baby will have the immunity, and also so that milk supply will be maintained.
