"Big" Present
Do you give a "big" present for Christmas to your kiddos? What do you consider a "big" present?

(sorry for the Christmas post...I'm in Christmas mode at the moment lol)

Re: "Big" Present
It's still over 2 months until Christmas! Can we get through Halloween first??

That being said, yes we usually do a big gift. For us its not so much that it's the physical largest or even the most expensive, although it generally does cost the most, but it's the gift the kids want the most.

Last year the girls wanted 18" dolls and accessories. This year they are asking for Disney Infinity for the Wii. Well, they both really want iPods, but they think they are too much and they won't be getting them. Little do they know that one set of grandparents has decided that that's what they want to get the two of them this year. I can't wait to see their faces!

Re: "Big" Present
This will be Marcos' first Xmas and he'll be 5.5 months old, so we're only spending like $30 on his gift because I got everything I needed for him at my baby shower. At that age, he really doesn't need a whole lot more. We got him a little walker toy thingy with lights and sound that he can play on the floor with once he can sit, and later push around once he can stand up.

I think thats something we will do when the kids are a bit older, right now they are so little they dont really "want" anything too pricey

Re: "Big" Present
We always had one growing up, usually it was something expensive we shared (Playskool kitchen when we were young, a top of the line CD player when we were older, etc.).

Its something I'd like to continue with Cam.

Caroline that is awesome! I love gifts like that. 2 years ago, MIL bought my neice and nephew their DS's. My neice who is older opened hers first and she was jumping up and down and so excited. My nephew opened his second and he started doing the same, and then MIL said "How do you know its a DS? What if I just wrapped your gift in a DS box?" His face was PRICELESS. He was so happy to find out that was a joke lol.

Re: "Big" Present
My parents and my sister have actually decided that for this year, they're also going to get Marcos only a little gift, and they are going to put some money in his RESP account instead. Sounds kind of "boring" but it's not like he realizes what's going on. lol...

Re: "Big" Present
I was going to play scrooge this year, but I think now we are going to get Arthur a wagon that also has skis for the winter! So that is a pretty big gift. Its hard to say how we'll do Christmases down the road, but I really don't want gifts to become the focus. I'd much rather spend time together as a family doing something!

Re: "Big" Present
That's funny Jess! The grandma wants to put the iPods in very large wrapped boxes since they will be the only thing for each girl under the tree. The catch is, she wants to wrap progressively smaller boxes inside the big box so the girls have to work to get their presents this year.

He was 4ish at the time...so funny! I was dying!

I like that idea Kalynn. We definitely will have more than presents going on but I love that I will be able to give him (them) something.

Re: "Big" Present
We usually go crazy at Christmas, but there are around 30 people on our gift list, and it just got out of hand. So this year we're doing 4 gifts for each kid: Something you want, something you need, something you wear, and something you need. And then we're doing something to share (although it might end up two somethings to share until the younger ones are a bit older, something for the older two to share, and something for the younger two).
