Bible advice
Looking to really get into my Bible, but don't know where to really start. I'm struggling with this pregnancy, so I'm looking for some things that might help me feel the peace and comfort of God, or remind me that He is always healing and is in control. Because of my specific topic preferences as of late, I'm reading from my promises for mothers book instead of my Bible. I feel like it is giving me all of the verses that I NEED in one place without all of the page turning; however, I would like to get more than just verses.

Re: Bible advice
I know of a couple verses that may help you

Needing peace : John 14:1-4 or 16:83, Roman 5:1-5
Needing Guidance: Psalm32:8, Proverbs 3:5+6
Trust: Psalm 37:3-5
Sick or in pain: Psalm 38, James5:14,15

Re: Bible advice
Bible reading plans are good but for you to really dig in to God's word and read the whole verse in context, you need to read chapter by chapter. I always recommend people start reading John. One of my favorite books :)

Re: Bible advice
I would also recommend John as well as Proverbs and Psalms. Do you have a Bible app or study Bible? If you have the app it's easy to search for a specific topic and then just read the entire chapter in context or just to read all of the verses on that topic. I love the DAKE Bible for really in depth Bble study but he (Dake) can be a little overwhelming at first. I never knew how to really study or "get into" the Bible until I started Dake. One of the best things I ever did was to start my own notebook of Bible topics. I started with "Heaven" and wrote every verse I found about heaven. I have other topics such as "the tongue" "angels" "second coming" "old testament law" etc.

Re: Bible advice
The thing that keeps me going is remembering that God is sovereign and in control of all things (1 Chronicles 29:11-12), and that all things will be for his Glory (1 Corinthians 10:31). It's tough when things don't go our way, and I'm guilty of asking God for his will to align with mine, rather this my will to align with his (1 Thessalonians 5:18). God does say "if we delight in the Lord, he will give us the desires of our heart" (Psalm 37:4) but we need to remember that his plans are better than anything we can plan and if we are obedient and faithful, he will bless that. I hope this is encouraging for you and I will be sure to pray for your family during this time of discouragement.

Re: Bible advice
There's the standard 2 chapters OT and 1 chapter NT for reading the whole Bible in a year. I also highly recommend aligning the Proverbs chapters with the day of the month. (chapter 1 on the 1st, 2 on the 2nd, so on). Psalms is also good for seeing how to honor God in seemingly every mood man can have. Jeremiah 29:11 always comforted me in troublesome times. I know it's for Israel first, but I still really like it. I'm sorry things are rough and I hope you do find peace. One quote that has helped me greatly is a speaker pointing out that God said to be still and know that He is God, not be still and feel that He is God. Blew my hair back!
