Combining Birthdays

Liam will be turning 3yo on 9/1. His brother, Ryan, will be turning 6yo on 9/28. I never wanted to combine birthdays, but with my husband's schedule this year, it would be best to do so. The same people will come to both parties.

Ryan has Autism with SPD and goes to a special class in our local elementary school. His friends from his class also belong to our local Autism support group and they all know Liam also. Family is Family to both kids. I think it is the smart thing to do.

I want to hold the big party on Ryan's actual birthday of 9/28, since it is a Saturday. We will have small immediate family birthdays for each kid.

Ryan and Liam watch Disney, Sprout, and Nick Jr. They like the iPad, being outside, swimming pools, jumpy houses, and bubbles.

I like planning around a theme and color scheme to tie it all together.

In the beginning, Ryan hated his new brother and now he tolerates him. Liam misses his brother while he is at school and always wants to be like Ryan.

Any suggestions on colors or themes?

If there is a particular show that they both like to watch, or a specific game on the iPad they like, you could use those as themes. Or where they both like swimming pools, you could have a swimming party. One of my DD's friends had a swimming party last year. They invited a few of his friends and their families along with their family members to go swimming at the local indoor pool. Afterward everyone went to their church to have cake and ice cream and open presents. Bounce houses also make great birthday parties! You could incorporate a bounce house into a carnival theme too. I'll keep thinking and let you know if I think of any other ideas. :)

Me and my sister have birthdays a week apart so we always shared parties growing up. I would have loved a carnival theme!

carnival sounds amazing! I did an animal themed occasion for my little man.
Dressed him to the nines. Anyone looking for a cute little suit

4 Piece Leo Christening Suit in Blue - Boys Christening Suits - Boys Suits - Boys

Cheap but brilliant quality.
Would love to hear what everyone else is doing and if they would have a double party to celebrate

What about an aescape room party? An escape room birthday party is a growing trend for younger people. From teens and college students to much younger children (5-12), such birthday parties provide an adventure that is fun and rewarding. Personally my kids had a great fun at The Laboratory of Lost Species escape room. Most escape room adventures for a children’s birthday party last for one hour with a second hour spent celebrating the win with a birthday cake and other party games. So give it a try.
