I'm a mother of five which three were conceived on different birth controls. I have had the copper iud, te para guard for 3 years now and just tested twice that I am pregnant! I am praying vigorously that everything is safe with the baby. Out of everything I read I see half of people say leave it in and others say take it ASAP. So I'm waiting to see the doctor to see what I should do! I have no clue! I'm nervous but I'm going off faith! I pray Gods will is done! Glad I found this forum t read all the updates!

It is most definitely possible. My best friend became pregnant on Mirena a few years ago. Many women can have it removed and go on to have normal pregnancies, my friend, however was on the more severe end of the spectrum. The risk of ectopic pregnancy is higher than normal. I wont go into details about her situation because hers was rare and I don't want to scare anyone, but I ALWAYS tell anyone that even thinks they might be pregnant with an IUD to go to their doctor to confirm! The end results can be heart breaking if ignored.

I just took a pregnancy test today and it was positive and I too have an iud in. and now reading this I'm super nervous. Please keep me posted on what happens with having yours removed. I was going to call tomorrow to schedule an appointment to be checked out anyways but now I feel when i do call to stress that i need to come in asap. Is there anything I can do in the meantime until my apt to lessen my chances of a miscarriage?

OH I have the copper 10 year one if that makes a difference.

Did you bleed or cramp after it was removed? I am 5wks PG and had mine removed on Weds. I am cramping and bleeding but it is lighter than my regular periods.

Most of the time when ppl get pregnant on the IUD its not long after they've had it put in. Same with the Depo shot. It's because the body doesn't adjust quickly.

Actually the Mirena has no estrogen in it, it only has progesterone in it.
