I had a baby in 1992, and another in 1996. I had complications with both pregnancies, but delivered big, healthy babies. They are now 18 and 14. We also adopted 3 children after that from other countries. I never planned on having or wanted another biological child. Then, in 2008, my husband died in a small plane crash.

In August, at age 40 (I'm 41 now), I moved away from my boyfriend who is 59, to go back to school. A couple weeks later, surprise! I was pregnant, raising 5 kids away from my boyfriend, and pregnant with #6. Then, at 10 weeks along, it was discovered I'd had a missed miscarriage, and so I had a d&c. (I didn't know that antibiotics rendered birth control unsafe, and it was the first time in my life I'd ever even been on birth control pills). Anyway, I was sad, because I'd grown attached to the little bean. But after a couple months, I felt it was for the best. Oh, incidentally, the night before the d&c, my boyfriend proposed to me, and we were married 1 week later!

Anyway, I'm still 3 hours away from hubby, and found out 5 days before my missed period that I was pregnant. I wasn't on any birth control this time, but we thought we were being careful (thinking that at his age it wasn't likely either, and that last time it happened it was just a 1 in a million fluke). A little clarification...there was a little oops, and a couple days later I had some really weird kind of cramping...and I just knew something was going on in there. That's why I took the early test, because I had a strong feeling about it.

So, I am 5 weeks along now. My first OB appointment is on February 3rd, and I'll be about 8.5 weeks along. Makes me nervous they can't see me sooner, because I'm afraid of having a missed miscarriage again (baby only grew to 6w3d, but had no heartbeat at my ultrasound at 10 weeks). The clinic handled it all very poorly, and this time around I found a new doctor, but that's the soonest they can fit me in. So I'm a little nervous.

On a positive note, I may be able to get out of my lease early and move in with hubby. He also has 5 kids but only 1 left at home.

I guess my unmedicated ADD coupled with pregnancy brain has gotten the better of me.

I've actually had 3 unplanned pregnancies...my first was with my first in 1992. The other 2 were within the past year...

Hi and

congrats on your bfp! Does your boyfriend know yet? You seem nervous but happy for your blessing at the same time. I know the wait is seriously a pain but hopefully the time will fly by. Definitely sending you some sticky vibes and wishing you a h&h 9 months

Thank You Sharon for my beautiful siggy!
