Hi, I have been kinda lurking here for a week or two, but was unsure about posting, my doctor has not came out and said I am high risk, but I am fairly sure that I am.
This pregnancy started out just fine until around 13 weeks I started having horrible headaches that would not ease up so I went to my Doctor and my bp was elevated allot 144/100 so they sent me for allot of bloodwork and had me come back the next day, and it was still high actually had gotten higher so they put me on labetalol, and after two weeks on labetalol they hooked me up the mist machine(kinda like ekg) and I did badly on that test so they doubled the amount of my blood pressure medicine.
I also failed my one hour glucose test and two of the three on the three hour test so the doc said he will call me borderline for gestational diabetes.
I have to see the doctor every two weeks right now and a dietician, and I am trying not to be scared of what all of these things mean for the rest of my pregnancy, by the way sorry this post is so long.

Welcome to the board. I am high risk for incompetant cervix and chronic hypertension. Labatalol has worked great for me, but everyone is different so if you feel like it's not helping enough ask for either an add in med or to try a different one altogether. Good luck!

I'm your host Rebecca, and although I'm not currently pregnant (we are TTC with medical assistance) I am high risk for Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and a prior stillbirth. I'm on methyldopa for the HBP, it does the same thing as labatalol. You don't have to be high risk to join us here, we're here for women with all kinds of pregnancy complications.

If you are looking for additional resources, our condition specific resources subforum has a thread with lots of HBP resources. And feel free to vent as much as you like - we're here to listen!

Thank you Vicki for my awesome siggy!!

Hello there!

I am high risk for my medical history (cancer survior, seizures) and at 23 wks had open cervix and then my AFI was really low... they said i'd be in hospital until i delivered but after everything stablized i made them send me home and I'm going on 29 weeks Sat.

My advice (although I dont have the medical issues you have) is to stay positive and look everything up and be prepared. there is so much info for all of the things you mentioned and they can be monitored. Be positive and keep taking care of yourself and your baby and it may be hard but it will be well worth it. Your definately in the right place!

Thanks for the warm welcome girls, I am feeling a bit better sort of, just so sick of doctors and blood tests and hoping not to have to do the 3 hour glucose test or the 24 hour urine test again but have already been told I will have too.
I look forward to getting to know you ladies.
Hi Elizabeth, I didn't know you were here

Welcome to the high risk board! I'm here for a number of reasons. I have a history of pre-eclampsia (had it with 2 out of 4 of my pregnancies), post partum hemorrhaging, PPCM-Peri Partum Cardiomyopathy, but mostly my biggest problem is I have an antibody sensitized pregnancy (similar to the RH antibody but different). I hope things get better for you!
