Hello everyone! I'm new here. This board actually was recommended to me by a friend who was trying to help me out in the pregnancy department. She's got two of her own - one who is a teenager and the other quickly approaching that age - so she felt slightly inadequate and wanted to give me the hook up, so to speak.

So yes, I'm new and I'm expecting a little girl on Feb. 19th of next year! This will be our second girl and as much of a surprise as it was to find out I was pregnant, me and my hubs are pretty excited about the new addition.

I'm not sure if I'm considered high risk but after the way the last pregnancy went down and the way this ones going so far with a few unscheduled visits to the ER and clinic and the fact that the doctors are keeping a closer eye on me this time around...I'm going to go with the possibility that it is.

So far everything has been good as far as the pregnancy goes - constant heartburn and trips to the bathroom aside. I had one stint in the ER where my BP was great but my HR kept jumping up to 120 and then dropping again to normal before hiking back up and this went on for a good hour. I started feeling light headed and like I was going to pass out at work when I was sitting down. So after about 20 minutes, one of my co-workers brouht me in, I was admitted to the ER where I was monitored for a good three hours. Blood tests were done, had to get a CT scan because my test for blood clots came back positive (which apparently it does in 90% of all pregnant women). All tests came back fine and I was released, told to keep up with the fluids and try not to get too stressed out. Working in a daycare center as an assistant teacher with a director who has made it very clear that I'm not her favorite person...hasn't made that easy.

Not long after the ER visit a rash showed up. It started out as two blotchy patches in my pelvic area and I chalked it up to a bug bite. Then the same rash erupted over my chest one night and I chalked that up to an anxiety attack. When it hadn't subsided much after a few days and a friend of mine came to stay for a few days that was a nurse, she convinced me to go in. Another blood test and some pressing on the liver and kidneys...mention of the words HELPP syndrom...and after that everything came back normal.

So this pregnancy, although normal, hasn't been uneventful. I have an automatic BP cuff that the same friend who visit sent me so I take my BP every day and its stayed normal. Here's hoping it will continue to do so.

If anyone thinks I'm in the wrong spot, please feel free to say so. I'm not really sure where I stand right now, just that I'm constantly trying to stay calm, have cut all coffee and pop out of my diet and have been trying to be a lot healthier this time around.

Welcome and congrats on your pregnancy! With the ER trips, it sounds like you are in the right place and I am glad you found us. Did they figure out what caused the rash? I am keeping my fingers crossed for a healthy and uneventful rest of your pregnancy!

No, they never actually did. It's gone now but it was the strangest thing. People have their susspicions...mostly stress/anxiety related. But I'm about as clueless as can be and the doctors didn't say anything about it after all the tests came back fine.
Thanks for the well wishes! I'm praying for the same thing!!!
