After spending 22 years a slave to fashion so that my ex would "approve", I quit! If I could, I would LIVE in jeans, shorts, t-shirts and tanks, and FLIP FLOPS! With my ex, I dressed the way he wanted so much that when I got divorced, I was afraid to dress myself. I was so crippled by that relationship...can't hardly believe that was me. I had nothing but designer labels and always this years styles. Nothing but my silk blouses got kept for use a second year and even those only got TWO years wear. (sure wish I had all that money I spent on them NOW!) I'm definitely not the same person now. I no longer care if someone thinks something I am wearing is pretty or stylish or even a good color. I wear scrunchies in my hair and have been known to leave the house without makeup! >GASP< It doesn't matter. I know who I am and I'm FINALLY comfortable with that. Thankfully, Tom loves me for the same reasons. Now...when we go out somewhere together, I will get dressed up a bit....(clean jeans! lol) I do my hair (without a scrunchie) and makeup and depending on where we're going, might even put on a skirt! LOL Since he's pretty casual himself, it's usually jeans. I do still like certain designers--better fabrics--but now I only buy them at the end of the year, 75% off plus an extra 25% (does that make them free?) sales! I keep the ones I like for years and continue to enjoy them. It doesn't matter to me that they might be out of style...I like them. I wouldn't go back to that other way for anything! (even if we do win the lottery!) The one extravagance I do still have though is perfume. I have several favorites that I will, once a year, buy for myself. I love very soft scents that you have to get close to smell. Tom likes that too!
