I kept Nathan home from school yesterday to take him to the doctor becuase he had complained of a sore throat for a few days and once I finally looked in his mouth I could tell something was going on in there. He is otherwise not complaining of anything and has not ran a fever. So at the doctors yesterday they did a strep test, but not a rapid one, and it was near the end of the day so they said they'd call tomorrow. So I had to keep him home today as well since I didn't know for sure. So come 11:30 today I called them because I had not heard anything. She then tells me the lab runs the tests at 1. Well now it is after 3 and I am wondering if I will hear anything today! I just don't want him missing any more school and I can't send him w/ strep unless he's had 24 hours of antibiotics.

His throat still looks red and small puss spots with some swelling. I'll wait until 4:30 and call again and if I hear nothing I may take him somewhere that will do the rapid strep test. I am annoyed.

This is weird....I thought my daughter had strep as well..took her to dr last Tues and they done a Rapid test on her and it said she didn't have strep but her tonsils were red and swollen but no puss. So she got Zithromax and I sent her to school on Thurs since it was all clear. Yesterday I called her doc again because her tonsils were still swollen and red and they gave her cednifer (prob not spelled right lol) and she's on that now and hubs said it looks to be going down now...

I would be livid if her doctor didn't call me the same day to let me know if it was strep or not...but it's a good thing you didn't send him to school. Momma's intuition is usually right-you prob knew he had it before you got the results. Some parents would just go ahead and send their kids to school (at least from what I seen here in Middletown lol). Hope your little guy gets better soon.

that is so frustrating! Sounds pretty crazy that they only do tests after 1! Sounds like my kind of job.

Hope your little man feels better soon. I was sick with tonsilitis a few weeks ago, its pure hell!

I can't believe they didn't do a rapid test. When you're dealing with something so contagious it doesn't seem like there should be another option. I hope he feels better soon!

Oh no. So sorry about the positive strep result! That sucks. Avery is complaining of a sore throat now tonight...Lord, I hope it isn't strep...we have had it twice already this year. Get well soon, Nathan!! :/ At least you got the call before the day was through...I am glad. I know that is frustrating..

Thank you, *Kiliki*, for another lovely siggie!

Hope he feels better soon!

I am an impatient waiter for calls also. I have to put the phone somewhere so I am not staring at it all day.
