How much would you charge to watch extra kids in your home? I need to bring in some sort of income, but I can't afford childcare, so I thought watching a few extra kids would work. I have done this before, but the prices of everything were different in that area. People aren't listing rates in their ads on CL here so I don't know what to charge.

I know day care in my area is $250 a week per child. So that is $50 a day. So i would think if your around that price then you would be good. Plus your offering more personalized care and a friendly enviroment.

Depends on your area. Here in my part of PA it's about 30.00 a day but when I lived in Ma it was 250-300 per week. So I guess it really depends on your area.

I would look at the local daycares see what they are charging per week (here its 170 roughly 200 for toddlers/babies in diapers) and then go from there....I would say 100-150 per week per kid would be reasonable....and a lot cheaper than daycare

I've done $20-$25/day to watch babies & young kids. Older kids I would charge less. Assuming this is a regular 6-8 hr day.

It would depend on the age of the child(ren) and the hours. I used to do this overnights with a girl who was 9/10 at the time. Then their work schedule changed and due to the hours of their shifts I sometimes had her 36+ hours at a time. I didn't get paid anymore because it was a daily rate not hourly. They also frequently picked her up late. I would charge hourly and be sure to draw some sort of contract. Prices really depend on where you live, I would also suggest inquiring at local daycares.

I wouldnt charge as much as the average in my area. Id do like 10-20 dollars less.

I probably would charge like $75-$100/wk per child.

~My thanks to *Kiliki* for the siggy and Lucy S for the blinkies~
