I think keeping them home sounds like a really good idea! Schools can be so weird when making decisions sometimes. Good luck with the snow. Were getting a storm this weekend.

When I was in school, about halfway through (maybe 6th or 7th grade?) we got a new superintendent. He was from Minnesota or some other place that snows like crazy, so he almost NEVER closed our school when every other one was closed. We walked to school and the road and sidewalk was covered in ice, so we just stayed home. (I grew up in NY, this was clearly NOT in AZ lol)

Has the storm started yet? Our school either calls snow days in the morning and closes for the day or stays open all day.

What chaos it must be for the working parents to figure out how to get home midday.

Wow! That sounds like a poor decision on their part. I'd keep mine home too if I was you! How are things now?

We had a two hour delay today because of ice. Since my little one is in AM kindergarten she gets a whole "snow day".

We were supposed to get many inches of snow last night. Our superintendent called school off last night for today at about 6:00pm. He canceled it early so working parents could make arrangements as needed. We got maybe 2 inches instead of the 6 to 8 we were supposed to get. A lot of people are angry that they canceled school. I think it is wonderful. We are allowed 3 snow days a season. We rarely use them. This year we used one for a one day strike and now one for a snow day.

Personally, I think it is wonderful.. a day away from the germy petrie dish they call school!! I am going to enjoy an extra day with my kids.

I think I would have chosen to keep my kids home in that case also especially since all the others were closed. They cant mark that against your kids for sure.

Anyhow, have fun in the snow and stay safe and I still would love to see some snow, but know that we wont

We had a snow storm weds night into thurs morning. This school NEVER closes, like ever, so when I woke up in the morning, saw the roads still werent plowed and the car covered, I opted to keep my kids home too. Why risk going out in it when the kids are in first grade? Half of the other kids probably wont be there, so they really wont miss much other than some play time and crafts. (It was also bc I was lazy and didnt want to go out in the 8 degree weather to shovel and clean off the car but shh! Nobody needs to know that)

Thank you *Kiliki* for the awesome siggy
