Any of your kiddos have sealants on their molars?

DD went to dentist today for her cleaning (no cavities, yay!) and they said her next appointment will include sealants for molars. They said to give her Benedryl an hour before to help dry out her mouth/saliva (?) and they need to give her laughing gas because her gag reflex is SO BAD, they don't think they'll be able to get back there otherwise. They couldn't even do her x-ray today because she gagged too much.

Yeah, that will be fun

Well, I'm a dental assistant, and I've placed MANY sealants on kids. The biggest factor is having to keep the tooth completely dry, or the sealant won't stick. Children are hard, because they have more saliva anyway, and their tongues don't stop.....add a gag reflex, and they're VERY difficult. lol

Hopefully the gas helps!! Good luck!

Hope it goes smoothly for her. I need the gas just for regular cleanings! lool
