I'm getting induced next week and have been avoiding them to this point (but will need to get them before my induction). I'm worried the check will push the GBS to the baby , so I'm trying to see who else gets them and things turn out ok.

I did not have a cervical check until I was in the hospital getting induced, and it was per my request so I knew if it was safe for me to surpass a cervical ripener and go straight to the Pitocin (it was not, I'm glad I was checked)

A few exams will not hurt you. I definitely think it's better to get one before starting your induction, just don't let them check you excessively when you're laboring. Some Dr. wana check every hour...no friggin way. I would not be comfortable with that. Just keep it to as minimal as possible

You can always try natural ways to induce (acupuncture being the most effective, and runs about $80.00/treatment on average..usually takes 1-3 treatments)

I was GBS+ and was checked as soon as I got to the hospital because my water had already broken. I received IV meds (penicillin) and everything was fine. Talk to your doctor about what you can take or alternate ways of reducing the risk if you can't take penicillin. I don't *think* a cervical check or three will increase your risk, which is pretty small anyway.
