Is anyone familiar with Duo Cal? My 3 1/2 month son has been on it for about two months now due to weight gain issues which came from a pyloric stenosis which has been corrected. He is now 9lbs 2oz...up from 5lbs 14oz so we are on the right track. My question is if any of you have used duo cal before while breastfeeding? How did it affect your supply? How did you wean off of it? Thanks for any insight!

We used duo-cal for awhile. Unfortunately, I don't have much to offer because my DD would not breast feed. My only advice would be if he is getting too full from the duo-cal and not wanting to nurse, then pump in order to keep your supply up.
If he has a steady curve on the growth chart and his doctor is happy, I would just discontinue the duo-cal. Breast milk is going to be way more nutritionally valuable then duo-cal.

I agree. If he has no absorbtion issues and is getting back where he is supposed to be I would cut out an ounce of duo-cal at a time....if your dr is BF friendly I would ask him his advice on how to transition. He may want you to come in for weekl or biweekly weight checks for a while to make sure his weight doesn't start to slope. I have never used duo-cal so if something I said doesn't make sense...that is why. I wanted to try to help with my experience with high calorie formulas though.

Thanks .:Shortcake:. for my GREAT siggy.
