We've been out of the hospital since monday and been to the ped 3 times. The ped weighed her and she lost the weight from the hospital. She was down to 7.0.8 yesterday. Tuesday she had been 7.1.8. I maintain it was the iv fluids and meds, which dr said maybe. But today she went from 7.0.8yesterday to 7.1.0 today. Dr said that isn't enough. I think it's my bm? I don't know It may not be sufficient enough for her? So we took her off that and put her back on higher calorie formula. 22 calories. She is eating great, about 2.5 o every 2-3 hrs. WHY won't she gain any weight? What is wrong with my baby? She's 4 weeks now. She hasn't een gained 1 lb. The dr wanted to hospialize her again and I begged to please wait until monday. He wants her in Johns Hopkins. He wants GI tests and cardiologisy and everything run and said it cannot be done outpatient. He mentioned cystic fibrosis, but I swear I was tested before ttc y 1st aby over 9 yrs ago and was found negative. I cannot difinitively remember but I seem to recall. Do they test for cf when you're pg too? I am beside mysef. What else can make her not to gain? Her hr is still soooo fast. It's 160's baseleine. Higher when she eats or moves. Please help my baby!

I just fed her 2 oz of neosure. she vomitted it up. Not sure if all but half at least and she aspirated it and she sounds all congested now. I don't know what to do? She didn't do this last weekend at the hospital last weekend. My friend swears it's a milk allergy.

If it is a milk allergy, usually stools ill be mucousy. Not always but that is typical. Has your ped backed off your case and finally realized that you do feed her? I would allow inpatient testing at this point. John's Hopkins is a good hospital from what I hear. That isn't where you went last time is it? She needs the cardio appt because just having her HR that high will have her burn half of what she does get in. It is exhausting having a high HR all the time. If you were tested before TTC you should be able to get those records with the test results. They test for CF during pregnancy... (in the mothers blood for the gene)...but only the 40 most common types out of over 1000. So even if they tested during pregnancy you could be a carrier. If you had genetic screening done I don't know which test they would have done. The one that scans for all identified mutations that cause CF takes about 6 weeks to get back. Have they had you kep a feeding diary for her yet? Do you mark when and appx how much she vomits back up each time? That could help rule out a GI issue. If she is keeping in enough to gain on what she weighs now and isn't that would be a likely GI issue. If she is just keeping in enough to stay at what she is than she could be switched to a non-milk-based formula such as Neocate, Elecare, and sometimes they can handle alimentum and nutrimigram. If these don't resolve the vomiting than I would try reflux meds but not before they rule out allergies/protein intolerances. There have been studies and are ongoing studies that are trying to find out if overuse of reflux meds are contributing to the amount of food allergies. You don't want to cover up a food allergy with reflux meds. It usually won't work anyway but they just raise your dosage to the max of the strongest meds and when that doesn't work they send you to an allergist. I would see if they will try a hypoalergenic, high calorie formula first. Neocate and Elecare I know are hypo and high calorie. I hope she starts to grow soon.

Thanks .:Shortcake:. for my GREAT siggy.
