Welcome to the FTT board. I can really relate with your experience. We had so many struggles with Brandon and breastfeeding. He was in the NICU for a couple weeks because of being premature and he struggled with breastfeeding from the beginning. We went through a lot to get him breastfeeding exclusively just to have him start losing weight again. My supply was terrible because of his FTT and swallowing/sucking problems. We ended up weaning at 14 months because he was going days and not nursing or wanting to take a sippie cup or anything. I had to do something.

Talk to your pediatrician about getting a referral to a feeding clinic or an occupational therapist to work with him. Brandon had to go to a feeding clinic for a couple months because he wasn't eating any solids and was having a lot of problems. He still doesn't eat very well to be honest. A lot of days he doesn't eat any food all day. Also can you see if you doctor will give a prescription for pediasure. Brandon took pediasure for about a year and that was the one thing that got his weight up. We are on WIC so we get that paid for if we have a prescription. I am not sure if you can get an insurance company to cover that.

It doesn't sound like your pediatrician is doing much to look into what is going on. I switched pediatricians several times because they were ignoring Brandon's problems. You might want to consider getting a second opinion.

((Hugs)) and welcome to the board.
