I had my D&C this past Wednesday. I had brown spotting for two days. This morning, it was red, light flow.

Is that normal? To start out with old blood and then go to new, red blood? I always thought it was the other way around.

A few days after my D&C I started passing fresh clots and blood. Luckily I happened to be seeing my Dr for my followup appointment that day and so he did another ultrasound and found that there was a large blood clot in my uterus. If there is a small amount of blood and it doesn't last for days it could be a some small remnants of tissue that are passing on their own. You could always call your doctor to put your mind at ease.

1 partial molar pregnancy and 2 ectopics. Read my story here.

The same thing happened to me - I had brown blood, then brown clots, then red blood with some red clots - for me it went back and forth for a few days. I think it just a part of your body passing what is remaining but I agree with Lilly Ryan - it is always best to call the doc to put your mind at ease. I felt confused several times during the week following my D&C - ask all the questions you need!

Bleeding after m/c is much like after birth. It is your uterus' way of healing the lining. It can vary in color and flow, worsening with exertion, etc.
