My name is Ashley and I'm happily married to my hubby, Sam. We've been married 3 1/2 years and found out we were pregnant a few days before our 3rd anniversary. My baby is measuring small so I'm actually not quite 39 weeks yet (though my ticker says I'll be 40 tomorrow). I'm having high bp and slight protein in my urine so my doc is going to induce me on Wednesday and I'm so exciting to finally meet our precious girl! But, I'm wondering how did you ladies approach labor? I'm excited, nervous, scarred, worried, happy, ect... My ob did inform me Thursday that my body is ready and I shouldn't have a problem as baby is really low and I'm already almost 2cm. That gives me encouragement but I'm still wondering how labor will go! I haven't been having any contractions, not even small ones, so I'm worried labor will hit me hard when my contractions get strong since my body has 'prepped' me for that yet.

I guess my main reason for this post is to talk to other recent first time moms and hear how you handled labor and how you approached it. I'm sure my feeling are normal but what helped you most for getting yourself ready and prepping yourself emotionally also?

I had the same thing - and was induced a week before my EDD. You're lucky! I was 50% effaced and not dilated when they induced me. Hopefully yours will be to just to kick start labor. If you do get pitocin they will be hard, fast contractions and can be on top of each other. Usually they even out after a little bit.
For me, my iPod and word searches were a blessing and being emotionally prepped...not a thing. I was ready to hurl from nervousness when we were going but once that little one arrives all your fears go away and you are changed in a way that can't be described. It all comes together as soon as they arrive.

Good luck!!
