I'm a stay at home mom of a little girl who's about to turn two in March. She has yet to really talk. We've gotten her to almost say a few words but nothing has really stuck. She does say thank you almost religiously though! She also points and says gibberish but she won't say mommy and her version of daddy is pretty confusing (a repeating dadada). My worry hasn't been that she's incapable of learning to talk but that she isn't being taught to speak. I'm a VERY quiet person unless I'm around my husband. He typically leads our conversations which allows me to talk. If that makes any sense lol. I try to talk to my daughter but I'm very aware that I'm not good at it. I don't want to hold her back but I just don't know how to get her involved in conversation on a regular basis. Am I jumping the gun by expecting more talking from her and if not what can I do?

If you want her to talk, you need to talk to her. I'm not understanding why you are having a hard time having a conversation with her. Play with her and talk to her. Tell her stories, read to her. Speak to her.

You think the only people who are people, are the people who look and think like you, but if you walk the footsteps of stranger, you'll learn things you knew... you never knew.
