I saw this on Facebook and wanted to share.

Please take a moment to view this very powerful video shared on our page by United Communities Autism Network: It addresses a huge problem which affects individuals and families living with autism - wandering/eloping. Has your child ever wandered away before? What precautionary methods have you put in place to try to prevent it from happening?

In our home, we have safety locks on top for the door since A.J knows how to unlock door at his level. He also knows how to open the sliding door and screen door, use have a pin that is on top of the door that prevents the doors from opening.

Caleb used to be horrible to wander, sometimes he still does but much less often but we have all the safety equipment on the doors, windows and at one time even wanted to get him a tracking anklet

Great share. Daniel is not so bad as he used to be but I remember having to lock us in when I lived alone with him in a second floor flat because he went through a phase of wandering.

Kat went on a wandering phase at one point too. We just had locks, I slept in the living room for awhile to, to make sure she stayed in the house.
