I started back potty training my DD. We started when she was 18 months but backed off until now and she is almost 21 mos. Well she started off very good at 18 mos but then started to cry hysterically when ever she has to go pee pee and refused to let go on the potty. She would hold it and cry until she couldnt hold it anymore. Well now she has started it again! We clap and she even starts to clap, in between crying, when she finally starts to go. But she still cries and screams for me to get her up. She completely afraid to go while sitting there. I don't know what to do cause it is heart breaking for her to cry for me but she has the concept of it. She knows how to hold it obviously and when she has to go she starts pacing and doing a dance and yelling "mommy, mommy pee pee". But then I sit her down and it's chaos. Has anyone else had this issue or is having it now? What can I do?

ShE still might be a little young yet. The peak time for training is between the ages of two and three. Research shows if you train sooner than that there is a higher risk for regression. Not saying that she will regress, but the chances are higher.

Did anything happen to her while on the potty to make her afraid of going? Did she have a UTI where it burned and she was afraid to let it go?

If not, I would wait a little bit longer and try her again. She might just be reacting to the sensation of needing to go and doesn't quite understNd that it is ok to just let it go.

Sorry if there are any misspellings. On my iPhone and it's a little slow on the typing front. Lol
