Hi, my gf....noticed today.... a small of blood in her underwear...She said she had some abdominal pain. I was wondering if this is very common and how concerned I should be. I live in the US and she lives in Toronto, Canada. Unfortunately, despite strong urging she has not yet been to see a doctor. I was urging her to go right now to the emergency room, but I don't think she will go. She is filipino citizen, but living in Canada, she has the government Medical card that all tax-paying residents of Canada has but she thinks that she needs a referral to be seen by a doctor. I made a trip earlier this month to try to get her to atleast go to an urgent care center and then get a referral to an OB/Gyn , but she still refused. I cannot force her to go but what should I do. Any experiences or thoughts on the situation would be greatly appreciated. I really don't know what to do....and it is hard being so far away. Thanks for any quick replies.

I just read in the what to expect when you're expecting book that if the bleeding is accompanied by pain then she should see a doctor as soon as possible. Also she really does need to see a OBGYN because she needs prenatal vitimans, she needs to have her blood work done and she also needs to be scheduled an ultrasound to make sure everything is okay. I don't live in Cananda but i would assume that is it pretty much like America and she should be able to just walk in or make an appt. Hope everything turns out okay and good luck.
