Have you had to take your child/ren to the ER before?

I had to take Gaby once, when she was just a little over 1yo... she had a horrible horrible virus, and got a bit dehydrated, and had to go up to hospital for observation. In the end they deemed her to be fine (probably because as soon as we got there, she perked right up - of course!), and we were there for about 6 hours. It was still pretty scary seeing her in a hospital cot, and having doctors checking her out..

Took my oldest(he's 6)when he was just about 18mths old to the Urgent Care.

Around 8p he climbed the counter in the kitchen that we had the trash bag on while I was sitting on the sofa with our newborn son. He grabbed an empty vegetable can and stuck his finger in it...and it stuck.

When he pulled the can lid cut his finger open, ended up with blood everywhere...on him, on the counter, on the floor, and on me cuz I was up and there the minute he started to cry. Urgent Care was 5 mins up the road and they took us right in...he got 5 stitches.

From that point on til he was close to 4 yrs old anytime he saw the color red he thought it was an owwie.

Lessons learned:
1. always make sure the can lid is all the way off.
2. Connor is allergic to latex(at least the latexy bandage things they put around his hand). Not only did he have to deal with stitches but then parts of his fingers and hand bubbled up cuz of the latex.

~My thanks to *Kiliki* for the siggy and Lucy S for the blinkies~

Several times. The worst ones were when my oldest had croup, my second oldest cut his thumb wide open 2 Christmas's ago with a Swiss Army Knife, and when my boys had strep so bad their necks swelled up, 2 years ago.

My kids.....
