my dh went for his initial appt today. ironically on another board someone brought up the issue of chronic pain after having the procedure. i googled it and it doesn't seem as rare as the doc's pamphlet indicates.

anybody have any input on this?

thanks - carry

Honestly never heard of anyone who's at the V having issues other than a bit of pain for a few days after the procedure.

I had a tubal so I dont have personal experience but no one Ive ever talked to has had chronic issues with it.

~My thanks to *Kiliki* for the siggy and Lucy S for the blinkies~

Just lurking and wanted to give my thoughts/experience.

DH had a V on June 25th.

He is still in pain. He has been back to the V doctor and our family doctor.
They think it may be scar tissue....but no one is sure and no meds seem to help.

I feel so bad for him....we're hoping the pain will eventually go away. He has good days and bad but it seems more bad than good.

I do think this is rare but unfortunately it does happen

For my dh, there was no pain that a little bag of peas and a weekend on the couch didn't fix.

Unfortunately, it's more common that we realize. Most guys who experience it aren't as open to talking about "bodily" issues as women tend to be. Here is some information about pain after vasectomy and other long term risks.
