How do you know you are done having children? We said we were done after Ethan but obviously changed our mind. Logically it makes sense to definitely be done after this baby and everyone is assuming DH will get a vasectomy so thats just what I tell people. But in my heart I feel I have enough room and love to give a boatful of children lol. I just want to make sure if we make a permanent decision, such a vasectomy, that I am 100% sure.

If this is your last baby, how did you know this is your last child and that you guys were done? Was it purely a logical, or financial decision? What helped you decide? Was it that you had a predetermined # in mind for your family? Or something else entirely?

Momma to Alex (2005), Cadence, (2008), Ethan (2010), Brayden (2012), and Adrianna Elise due September 19th 2014

Stepmom to two (2006, and 2009).

Hi there. I don't know if I will be much help here, because I still question our decision every day. We decided to stop at 2 based solely on financial reasons. We did not do anything permanent, because I was not (and still am not) 100% positive that we are done.

Logically speaking, Yes...it makes sense for us to be done. When I think about the cost of prenatal care, the cost of the delivery and hospital stay. The amount of time I would have to take off work, the expense of having another child in daycare, etc. etc. etc.

I still go through WICKED bouts of baby fever, and I think how easy it would be to just stop taking my pills...
But then I remember what it was like to struggle financially and it is NOT something I want to experience again, and that's when logic kicks in.

Every family has their own unique reasons for the number of members it has, from the family of 20 to the family of 3. No matter what decision you make, nobody's "assumptions" outside of your little unit should have any bearing on it.

Good luck to you, and Congratulations on your new little one!

For us it was more that there was no way we had the mental strength to go through another pregnancy. While we are done having children of our own we have left the door open to foster or adopt further down the line.

I would suggest not making any permanent decisions until you are 100% sure.

Thanks to Claire1979 for the amazing siggy.
