It is so hard for me to go to the grocery store and buy healthy snacks for my oldest son. When we first start out, we get fruits, veggies and slowly we end up getting chips, cookies, Ice Cream or whatever. I need to really work on having my son eat healthier. What snacks do you give your children?

I try to give them fruit and yoghurts but i have to say they also get biscuits and chips my idea is as long as they get healthy food what does it matter if they have a little of the unhealthy stuff.

Sometimes we do fruit or yogart. Or cheese and crackers.
But every now and then she gets to have chips or a snack cake or something like that. She loves all the bad stuff and its hard to steer her away from it too

We do yogurt, peanut butter and apple slices, peanut butter and crackers, any and all fruit, fruit salad, cheese and crackers, veggies and a bit of dip, graham crackers, string cheese, air popped popcorn, sugar free pudding, jello with cottage cheese or fruit mixed in. I NEVER do sugary or crappy snacks (ie cookies, chips, fruit snacks, etc) as I consider those "treats" and not snacks. In my opinion, snacks should be something that refuel kids after playing hard, not empty calories. He does get cookies, etc, but it is an after lunch or dinner treat if he finishes all of his food.

On keeping yourself from buying things you don't want to buy at the grocery store. Sit down before you go, make a list, and do not buy anything that is not on the list. Not only does it keep you from buying the unhealthy stuff, it will also save you money in the long run.
