Church Supports Nondiscrimination Ordinances - LDS Newsroom

What do you think of this?

ETA: I'm not trying to start a debate on this, I'm honestly intrested in what you girls think of this.

Thank you to the wonderful ladies who mad the blinkies!

"The Lord compensates the faithful for every loss. That which is taken away from those who love the Lord will be added unto them in His own way. While it may not come at the time we desire, the faithful will know that every tear today will eventually be returned a hundredfold with tears of rejoicing and gratitude..... These experiences, while often difficult to bear at the time, are percisely the kinds of experiences that stretch our understanding, build our character and increase our compassion for others."

This is the way I have always felt about the matter. I think it's good that they are making sure people know this is how the church has always stood on the issue and that LDS people don't hate and aren't trying to discriminate against those in same sex relationships.

Ditto, Aimee!

It doesn't mean that we tolerate the bad way they are choosing to live... it just means they are people (children of God) just like us and deserve comfort creatures as well. We shouldn't discriminate against anyone (race, age, sex, religion, political matters, etc., etc.).

It touches on the balance between loving them in spite of their choices, but not supporting those choices as right or good. Everyone, no matter what, deserves to have basic needs regardless of who they are and what they do.

The problem is that some living a same-sex lifestyle identify themselves as wholly that (or some people on the other side fail to see the person behind the action), so when we say that choice is against the commandments of God, they feel hated completely and wholly. But Christ said we should hate the sin and love the sinner right? I think this is a perfect example.
