Hi Everyone, I'm new to the boards. I went off the pill in April. I don't know exactly which date, then I got married in May. My periods returned to normal in June or July. They seemed a bit closer together than normal and I have to be honest that I've never been someone who kept track. I'm now 35 years old. For my past two cycles, i got my period on around July 5th, then it ended probably around July 8th. I then got a period on July 25th, that lasted around 5 days. Then I got my most recent period on August 20th and it ended August 25th. Based on what I've charted, my fertile days are now. It said they were between Aug 29th and sept 4th. so we're trying to have relations (sorry still learning the acronyms) on our fertile days. Up until this month I dont know that we were ever having it on the correct days since I've been off the pill. I guess I'm worried since I'm 35...no idea how long this is going to take. I will add that I was pregnant at 30 with my now husband and I ended the pregnancy back then (he and i had recently met and didnt know where things were going, sorry to anyone who is sensitive to that) so we could get pg back then in just one cycle, but I have no idea how long it will take now or if I'll need assistance.

I have a dr's appt on Saturday. From what I've been reading online it sounds like I shouldnt worry until about 6 months?

It's nice to meet you. I look forward to getting to know you. I married DH in July 2012, and we've been TTC since January 2013 when I went off the BCP. I'm 29 and DH is 25. This board is very supportive and friendly, so I know you will love it here.

Hey there and to the board! I am Elle

With a cycle length of 20 and then 26 you may want to start some charting to pinpoint O and check out how long your luteal phase is. There is an online resource - Fertility Friend that I have found very useful. I use it to track my periods (AF), cervical mucus (CM), symptoms, and basal body temperature (BBT). I also use ovulation predictor kits (OPKs) to see when my body is gearing up to ovulate (O). So if you are interested in trying any of that out then fertility friend has a great online course to get you started or feel free to ask questions on here as many ladies track these things.

Best of luck to you! I hope you get your BFP (big fat positive) soon!!

Welcome! Elle is right - fertility friend and temping will help you determine when your fertile days are. If you can determine that your Luteal phase is less than 10 days, you probably don't even need to wait 6 months before seeing a doctor.

Having been pregnant once is definitely a good sign, also. Good luck and I, too, hope your stay is short and sweet!

It can take quite a while (over a year) for your cycle to get back to 'normal' after coming off BC. If you are irregular, I would recommend having sex at least a couple times a week, to ensure that you are covering your fertile window.

Unless you are bbt charting or tracking CM, you'll want to have sex at least every other day from CD 10 until CD 20, if not every day.

With your age (while yes it IS a factor, my aunt had a successful and entirely uneventful pregnancy at 41) 6m and I would likely seek some help. Even though it can take up to 18m for any hormonal birth control side effects to resolve, your age would be a factor in doing some investigating.

Good luck and welcome!

I went off the pill in May, and have only had one period (in July) so far. I'm looking forward to my body getting used to being off the pill (I'm 32 & was on the pill over 9 years), so I can get to tracking my cycle & actually ttc! We havent tried yet because my cycle is all weird right now. Good luck!
