One of my mares is pregnant & I don't have a boy name picked out for the baby! I have several months until she is due to foal, but I like to pick names for them beforehand. I already have my other expected foal named, "Twisted Gambler" aka Gambler for short. The one that I need a boy name for will be pinto- either black & white or dark brown & white. I have 2 names picked already= either gender name if it has blue eyes "Saphire", and if it is a girl with brown eyes I'll name her "Jewel"... but I can't come up with a brown-eyed boy name! Mama's name is "Silky Sparkle" aka Sparkle, daddy is "Treasure My Color" aka Blackie. Sparkle's first baby is named "Dazzling Firefly" aka Dazzle, & Sparkle's own mom's name is "Wildfire".... Saphire fits for blue eyed baby because it is a "Treasure" and blue and has "fire" in it. "Jewel" just catches me, it is a "Treasure" & I know a very old, sweet mare named Jewel. I would like a boy name that fit into that sort of family.... any ideas?

Feldspar immediately comes to mind. Not exactly a gem but definitely a mineral, lol. Also depending on color maybe Onyx, Rubeus, yeah I dunno. .. not many gems I can think of that don't sound feminine. Maybe Coal/Cole lol. Rock or Rocky, hehe that's all I got. Calcite, Dolemite, Quartz.. I would use any of the names on a horse. My horse's name is Ruby.

I've thought about all of those (my sister is a rockhound, & gave me all those, too), they just don't feel right... the only one that could work would be Hematite, it could be shortened to "Hemi" (a powerful motor lol), but the whole word Hematite makes me think of blood (I have a medical backgroud)... I am hoping it's a girl anyway, but am truly stumped on a boy name. I'm already calling the baby "Jewel" LOL I know a man named Jules, maybe I'll name a boy foal that... who knows hahaha
