...I drank castor oil last night.

I took two tablespoons and mixed it in orange juice. It was pretty nasty, but not unbearable.

I've read things that say to stay away from the whole castor oil thing, that it's either ineffective or has nasty side effects and whatnot. So I almost feel guilty admitting I did it, like I deserve to be yelled at or something.

I drank it right before bed last night, and was up A LOT more than usual during the night with lower cramps and bad lower back pain, but not really any contractions, just the pain.
This morning I feel crappier than usual, but still no big or regular contractions.

Anybody want to yell at me? Go ahead.
Anybody know anything or have any experiences (good or bad) with castor oil? Please tell.

Thanks to Babydoll213 for my cute siggy!

Nope not gonna yell at you... but that had to be GROSS! I would rather be PG!

Seriously... I think they say the only thing that seems to work is SEX and nipple stimulation.

So go jump your hubby!

I have never taken it. But, my sister did, and all she got was bad diarrhea!

Honey, I understand your frustration. My ds was 16, yes 16!!!, days late.....I refused to be induced, and I had to go in for NST's every other day until he finally came out, and it was summer!! But when he came out he was perfect and healthy.

My DD was 6 days late...have patience!! You should enjoy the last days of your pregnancy, they are truly special , and you may find you miss having that special little bond only you can have with that little one inside of you.
He will come out when he is ready. I find sex works the best for going into labour. With my dd, I went for a three hour walk, and had sex after, and went into labour shortly.
I have heard that niple stimulation brings on contractions as well.

I'm going to ditto Anna. Both my sister and my mother did the castor oil thing and all they got was diarrhea. But when you're desperate...huh?

Hope he comes soon!

I just feel bad for you that you tried that horrible stuff and it didn't work. My DD was 6 days late and had no plans of even coming out then, but I had to be induced because my leak WAS amniotic fluid. Anyway, the major benefit to a little longer bake for her was that she was so far ahead developmentally. She nursed right away, hit milestones early, and had a terrific immune system. I don't know if its true or not, but I always felt like her extra bake time really helped her out. I know that probably doesn't help right now, but I wanted to try to offer something positive .

Not going to yell at you here. I personally wouldn't do it just because the thought makes me want to

I tried sex, nipple stimulation, TONS of walking and nothing worked. Some kiddos are just stubborn and are too cosy in there!

I don't post in here a lot anymore since I had my little guy. But I just want to say I understand trying everything. My little man came 11 days early but I was trying to get him out like crazy because I had been having contractions off and on for almost 1 1/2 weeks. They would get so close 5-10 minutes apart but not regular. I walked, tried rasberry tea, nipple stimulation, cleaning, yard work, and pineapple. Nothing worked. I couldn't feel him move one morning and called the dr. They listened with the doppler and could "hear" him moving but I still couldn't feel him. They did an ultrasound and found out he had ran out of fluid. Every bit of space was full of him or his umbilical cord and they induced. (Which I wouldn't suggest unless absolutely necessary)

Anyway what I'm trying to say is COME OUT BABY!!! Good luck!
